I was there 4 weeks ago. We met a family from Portugal. The daughter was in her mid 20's and was telling me this was her dream. To hike in Yosemite and see such an amazing place was her dream. She flew 13 hours to get to San Francisco, rented a car and then drove the 4 hours to Yosemite. She spent over $1000 to get there and she was thrilled. She was fulfilling a dream. And I know people that are 4 hours away and have never been there.
My point is that you do not need to get on a plane to go to some foreign location. There are fantastic places to see right where you are. Families, children, mortgages keep people from traveling across the world. Paying for 4 people is far different than paying for 1. Travel can mean packing the family in the car and driving to the beach or the mountains for a weekend. I know people that have lived in San Francisco for 40 years and have never been to Alcatraz. We are going to fix that. Get out and see everything you can. It does not have to cost much or take a lot of time.
You will not be disappointed.
