The five days in Cairo were trying at best. I thought I would be ready for the culture shock, but the constant “Hello”, “Where are you from”, “I’ll give the Egyptian price” for something I didn’t want gets old. Significant haze/pollution obstructed the Giza Plateau views. The views from the Citadel were over a dirty polluted city. Even the highlight of the Egyptian Museum would not save my first impression of Cairo. The touts, taxis and negotiating for everything was wearing. The feeling of getting ripped off is not pleasant. The amount is certainly not enough to warrant the ill feelings. I was glad to leave Cairo. This contrasted with out return to clear beautiful days in Giza 9 days hence. Prepared for any encounter 13 days into our trip, I enjoyed an amazing day. With little good to say about the first five days, I will move on.
