Jasper National Park Canada

Yosemite has been bettered, dethroned, taken down a slight notch. I am depressed and amazed at the same time. Jasper is everything and far more than I expected. I didn’t even take a single hike there. The drive itself was so impressive. The glaciers here are larger than Glacier NP. There are more glaciers here than in Glacier NP. I loved and love Glacier NP in the US but it you are going that far keep going to Jasper afterward. IT IS AMAZING! Every valley and mountain has a glacier for miles. We drove for almost two hours and We just hit the hike we wanted to get to. Wilcox Pass/Stream was on the list. With so many stops we ran out of time. There was one glacier that was standing out. I really wanted to get pictures of this. Amazing glaciers and then we turned the corner.  WOW! WOW! WOW! There were 4 equally and impressive glaciers right there. The Columbia Ice Fields was out of this world. This is what I expected from a glacier. it rolled down that mountain valley. You can bus or hire a guide to get out not the glacier.
We traveled north some more and some of the mountains looked like they had been pushed up (which they had) from flat to 45 degrees. Endless Mountain was amazing. Everything on the left was a glacier and everything on the right was an amazing formation. Finally we hit Jasper. This is the town of Jasper not the National Park. We ate at the De’d Dog restaurant. We had the Shepard’s pie, a salad and a couple beers. We were heading to Kamloops for the night.
Jasper NP is so amazing. If you don’t look back you miss something. We stopped at almost every pullout. I wanted to do two hikes - The Valley of 5 lakes and another lake that started with an M. I’ll look it up - at least. A hotel was calling. Jasper was $450 a night. We needed a break from camping. Kamloops was the best bet. Weather was coming and I wanted to be inside.
There was so much hiking in Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, Banff, Yoho, and Jasper, you would need months to get to everything you wanted. I will definitely return again for this road trip. I will probably do this several times to get in all the hikes and see all the amazing vistas and mountains and valleys.

So for all of Canada the animals were lacking. Squirrels, a few mountain goats, and a rabbit were it. We did not see any bears or deer

Happy Travels,
Brad
