Romania

We spent a week in Bucharest with one day tour out to the countryside for a castle tour. It was a hot week. I think 86 on one day was the coolest with the remaining days over 95 degrees. We got out early, but were back inside before late afternoon. the architecture was great here. There were old buildings next to new mirrored modern buildings. The Parliament Building was HUGE! It is the second largest building on the planet. Can you guess which building and which country has the largest building? I will tell you at the end of the blog. We had to go back on Sunday as Saturday was full until 1:00 PM. It is a tour only building as it still has government work inside, hence the name parliament building. The tour is 1.5 hours long and shows you some fantastic rooms and hallways and the view down the main boulevard.
We walked back to old town for lunch almost everyday. It had restaurants and bars on all the streets. There was some graffiti to see to.

Parliament had a gallery of post soviet art. Some of it was very intense. We walked around the exhibit for an hour before our tour.
Lastly we took a Castle tour out to Peles and Bran castles. They were not the castles I expected, more like mansions. Peles was the summer home for the King and his family and was really nicely appointed. Bran castle was the castle written about (incorrectly) as the home of Dracula. Vlad the Impaler had never been to this castle. It was still cool to see, but very touristy.
Brasov was a cool little town with a great church and the third narrowest street in Europe. We only has 30 minutes here and 15 I spent looking for a bathroom.
