Have you heard the term ‘Templed Out’? Another Church, another Mosque, another Temple. How is this one so different from the last twenty I have seen? I was ‘templed out’. The stained-glass windows were 40 feet tall and still beautiful after 200 years. The tiled domes were extravagant. The golden temple shone bright in the sunset. But they were not as exciting as the first ten or hundred I had seen. I don’t need to go inside; I’ve seen it. What is wrong with me? These are old, even ancient beautiful buildings with architecture not seen in the Americas. I should be astounded and yet I grow weary. So, what do you do when you get ‘Templed Out’?
There are amazing things on this planet not created by man. A waterfall, a mountain, a canyon or a clear blue warm ocean are as stunning as any Wonder of the World. How about the Seven Wonders of the Natural World? Every country in the world has natural sights, National Parks or oceans, rivers and lakes to visit. Change it up. Hike through a gorge to the waterfall or the sea. This is how to break the monotony. We stopped in Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia for a few days. We had beach time in Greece and a week on a boat in Turkey. We spent six weeks camping through the USA and Canada visiting National Parks. The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Jasper, Olympic and Crater Lake are all national parks. There are hundreds around the world. National parks, National Monuments, State Parks, beaches, rivers and lakes. A trip into nature rejuvenates you. It was the trick in needed after so many amazing cities and exotic buildings. Find the nature in your state or country and spend some time away from the hustle and bustle.
