We hit Rialto beach first. We walked up a couple miles until it was “impassable”. There was a way around or over the hill, but we had gone far enough. The drift wood or drift trees more accurately were great. There is so much wood the trees and stumps on the beach.
Day 2 we headed up to the rain forest. It was a 90 minute drive. Nothing here was close. There were two trails. The short one was great with lots of moss and great trees. The long trail went along the river.
We hit Second Beach on day 3. oh yea, this is where they filmed the Twilight movies. Forks WA and Port Angeles are in the books/movies. Second Beach ins in them too. We walked to the end of this beach too. It was really cool. To get onto the beach you had to walk over the drift wood/trees/logs. This was a much sandier beach than Rialto which was rocky. The fog came in as the day progressed. We had some rain overnight, but the tent kept us dry. We had a great spot in Mora Campground (#29). The last day we hit Rialto Beach again at low tide. I was going to try to get out to the sea stack/island. I rock hopped and log jumped and walked for the 400 yards to the sign. No Trespassing - Indian Land. I still got out to get some good shots and the work over the logs and rocks was fun. As I headed back the fog was rolling in and made some great views and then no views.
We headed south the hit Deception Pass and beaches 4, 3, 2 and 1 heading south. We stopped at 1 and walked down. The fog was all along the beach and made it beautiful and spooky.
We headed to Olympia to get a hotel for a couple days before returning to Portland.
