We rented a Quad on two separate days and really saw the island. There were some quaint towns all along the route.
We did a north route that was about 100 kilometers long. It was windy going up the coast, but the views were great.
Then once we started through the middle of the island you hit all the little towns. We stopped and had lunch in Filoti.
We did a beach day to give our butts a rest and then rented a Quad the next day again. We headed out to the Temple
of Demetra. It was surprisingly cold. Not like the last time we went out. And of course we did not bring our jackets this
time. We headed on in spite of the coolness. Once we were heading back we went into town and got our jackets.
We headed out to the nude beach, Argios Procopios and then down to Agia Anna. I finally got Sally on the nude beach
and got her picture! WOOHOO! I have it at the end of the post on the destinations page. We headed back to town and
turned in the Quad. We were leave for Santorini the next day. Mission Accomplished!
WOW! Santorini did not disappoint! It is the first Island that Wowed! It was amazing coming into the port on the ferry.
Now okay, from a distance it looks like a rock with bird poop on the top as you see of California all the time. DON'T GET
ME WRONG! Santorini is AWESOME. It is by far the best Island we have been to.
Mykonos had Delos; Naxos had beaches. Santorini had spectacular views, beaches, quaint towns and good ruins.
It was the most beautiful by far.
We stayed in Fira (Thira) and I recommend it there. It is centrally located to get around.
I would absolutely recommend a visit here. We walked over to Oia on the first day and the views were amazing.
We rented a Quad for two days and headed west all over the island. There was a black sand beach, a red sand
beach, the ancient city and the lighthouse. This was among the best locations I have seen on my trip so far.
Crete - Heraklion
The were some good ruins outside of town in Heraklion - Knossos. It was the annual free day for sites and
museums We visited the site the the Archaeological Museum for free too. We walked the downtown and the
Marina after changing places to stay. The hotel we found was down on the water and we enjoyed our first hotel
stay on our trip.
